Bird joins Batman Miniature Game to help Bane but he doesn’t come alone. Discover Bird’s relationship with Bane and his game mechanics.
BIRD’S BACKGROUND
Bird gets his name because of his great affinity with birds. His first appearance was in Vengeance of Bane #1 (1992), and he really isn’t your average villain. Bird has a wealth of knowledge about Gotham’s criminal underworld and its vigilante, Batman.
When he is imprisoned in the Santa Prisca prison, he meets Bane, with whom he develops a great friendship.
During his time in prison he teaches Bane what the outside world is like. Above all, he focuses on the underground of Gotham city. The dirty works and the corruption that is in the streets and how Batman is the defender of the city.
This information helps Bane to have a strange vision of Gotham City and his interest in the city begins to grow.
Bird, for his part, sends his falcon to collect information about the state of Gotham City to obtain useful information that can be of use to him in the future.
At a certain point, Bird and Bane manage to escape from prison and together they go to Gotham City to achieve their goals now as allies. Bird has shown great loyalty to Bane and has joined Bane’s militia to help him achieve his goals.
Although Bird does not have extraordinary physical abilities, his knowledge of the criminal environment and his affinity for birds make him an extraordinary ally.
BIRD’S GAME MECHANICS
Bird is the sidekick of this crew and for 58 reputation points perfectly accompanies Vengeance. He is an elite shooter and is also accompanied by his “Go my little birds” that allow him to make good attacks and also well used can give more mobility to the crew (something very desirable to put the boss quickly to give melee blows).
With 4 attack and 4 defense Bird will give us utility and attack power.
Like Vengeance, Bird has the “Veteran” trait so useful with the rest of the Soldiers of Fortune crew.
And now let’s talk about a couple of very special Henchman that come with Bird.
WRESTLERS’S GAME MECHANICS
The Builder is one of the Henchman that comes with Bird and has a really useful ability, with “Moment of Glory” at the beginning of his activation he can make an effort and we can activate him as if we had put an audacity marker on him. He also has his own “Dose” of proteins to have 1 free effort attacking or defending.
Red Bastard is similar to The Builder, as he has “Moment of Glory” although he doesn’t have his protein shake and once per game he can ignore a rule that makes him a target. Yes. Any Rule.

And, whether you love him or hate him, there’s no denying that he’s one of the most interesting characters in the DC universe.
RED HOOD’S BACKGROUND
Red Hood is an anti-hero with a traumatic past that he can’t get over. The Red Hood’s first appearance was in Detective Comics #168 (1951). Although he previously had another identity.
Now, under the hood is Jason Todd, the second Robin. Jason Todd’s first encounter with Batman happened while Jason was stealing the wheels off the Batmobile.
At Wayne Manor, Batman trains him to be his second Robin, and the boy gains some impressive fighting skills. He helps Batman with his job of keeping order in Gotham City but his past haunts him and he needs answers, which is why he goes in search of his birth mother. Batman goes looking for him fearing something bad will happen to him, but when he arrives it’s too late, Todd had died at the hands of the Joker.
Later, he is revived by Ra’s al Ghul in the Lazarus Pit, at which point he takes on the name Red Hood. The Robin we all knew hasn’t come back to life, who has been reborn is an anti-hero, armed with two pistols and with his characteristic Red Hood helmet, looking for revenge against Joker and Batman.
Red Hood began to be known for being a stranger who cleaned the streets of Gotham city with methods that Bruce Wayne would not approve of. His search for the Joker paid off and he left him near death after hitting him with a metal bar. The same method the Joker used to kill him. Joker came to mock him during this by reminding Todd of the last words he said to him before he died: I’ll be your Robin.
During his career as Red Hood, he has fought against Batman and with other superheroes like the Outlaws on several occasions, although there have been occasions where he has become part of the Batfamily especially because of his understanding with Nightwing.
The thought of Red Hood is one of the things that torments Batman the most because he believes that everything that happened to Todd was his fault, but now he can’t do anything to remedy it. Red Hood has made a name for himself and will fight crime with his bloodthirsty methods.
RED HOOD’S GAME MECHANICS
The model we present you today is from a slightly later era in which they put effort into making Jason Todd more socially connected, his costume looks more like a traditional superhero, although his methods are still violent and he leaves behind a calling card which states “let the punishment fit the crime”.
For the design of Red Hood at Batman Miniature Game we have tried to represent his temperament and violent methods, a character whose pulse does not tremble if he has to shoot villains or beat them up with his bare hands.
To start the weapons, Red Hood has two light guns, one equipped with anti-tank bullets to pierce armor and the other custom accurate and able to shoot faster.
He also comes equipped with reinforced gloves for that double stun in close combat and a very versatile armor of his own, the Red Hood Armor, which reduces all incoming damage by 1 and also if you are attacked in close combat after the attack is resolved you can stun yourself to put 2 stuns on whoever attacked you.
Red Hood has a few skills that will allow him to be a fundamental piece in any crew that recruits him. For example he has the rework “InstinctiveShooting” trait which, by activating this special ability, Red Hood will immediately move 4″ and then will be able to make an extra ranged attack that will ignore the modifier for having moved.
Also Red Hood has the “Vengeance” trait (at the start of the game choose who Red Hood’s personal enemy is, all damage Red Hood does to that enemy will be converted to blood damage, plus “DirtyJob” objective cards score an extra victory point) which in combination with the “Troublemaker” trait (a new special that when activated will allow you to search your objective deck for one of the “Violence” type cards and place it in your hand) makes a perfect combo to outscore your opponent.
To round off this authentic street fighter he has traits like “Acrobat”, “MartialArtist” and “Handyman”.
Red Hood also comes in a really awesome model that will look great in any band. What are you waiting for to kick ass with Red Hood?
This month a new villain from the Batman universe arrives at Batman Miniature Game. We are talking about Ten-Eyed Man.
TEN-EYED MAN’S BACKGROUND
Ten-Eyed Man is a villain from the Batman universe capable of seeing through his fingers and his first appearance was in Batman #226 (1970).
Ten-Eyed Man is Phillip Reardon, a war veteran who was discharged after a grenade fragment hit him between the eyes. When this misfortune occurred, he returned to civilian life as a security guard, but another incident hit him again.
Some thieves knocked him out to plant a bomb in his workplace. Batman came to help, but Reardon, seeing poorly, mistook him for one of the thieves and confronted him. In the middle of this fight he recognized Batman, but it was too late, the bomb exploded and Reardon’s retinas were burned and he lost his sight permanently.
Despite this, Reardon could recover his vision. Dr. Engstrom reconnected his optic nerves to his fingertips. Now he could see through it. The vision of him became an extraordinary skill that he would use to get revenge for what happened under the name of Ten-Eyed Man.
Now he has improved vision. He can see through all of his fingers and have 360-degree vision. Also, thanks to his military training, he is an expert in armed and unarmed combat. These two abilities complement each other perfectly creating a dangerous and capable villain.
With these skills, Ten-Eyed Man was hired to do dirty jobs, but who he really wanted to find was Batman. Reardon blames Batman for his misfortunes so he is the first on his path to revenge, but despite his incredible abilities he is unable to defeat him. He ended up imprisoned in a cell with the special protection of keeping his hands in a box so he couldn’t use his incredible vision to escape the place.
TEN-EYED MAN’S GAME MECHANICS
For the design of Ten-Eyed Man at Batman Miniature Game we have tried to represent his military training as an elite marksman and his superior vision ability thanks to his 10 eyes.
Ten-Eyed Man comes equipped with an automatic gun with a good rate of fire. His life as a military man allows him to have “Good Aim” and “Rapid Fire”.
In addition, his eyes give him the “Super Sight” rule with which he will ignore the effect of blindness and once every round he will be able to make 3 free efforts.

CHRISTMAS TIME IN GOTHAM CITY
From the beginning, Batman comics usually have special episodes for specific dates. Of course, Christmas is one of the most used for this kind of story.
In our minds there is a concrete image of Christmas reinforced by the traditions that we have seen since childhood. In the Batman universe they have used the typical characteristics of that holiday to transform them into a dark and desolate plot within the festive atmosphere of these dates.
Batman has had many adventures on these dates. From helping Santa Claus to a retelling of classic stories. This time we are going to bring a bit of Christmas spirit and we are going to show you some of the best Christmas stories in the Batman universe.
BATMAN CHRISTMAS STORIES
Merry Christmas and deadly new year (Batman #247).
This is one of the oldest stories told about the festive season and takes place on Christmas Eve. Batman searches for a fugitive criminal who has gone into hiding after being in a helicopter crash. Desperate, the fugitive finds a defenseless family trapped in the snow and takes the opportunity to make them hostages thanks to a vial of deadly poisonous gas. Luckily, the criminal is blinded by a mysterious Christmas star and Batman appears to defeat him. A story very much in the classic style of the older Batman comics.
Batman: Nöel.
That story is inspired by “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, but without losing the characteristic style of the Batman universe. The story centers on Batman’s path of misfortune. The Dark Knight begins to follow a man hired by the Joker who he realizes is a good man, but in dire financial need because he has a sick son.
Just like in a Christmas Carol, Batman has a vision of Robin, whose death still haunts him, warning him that he will be visited by three people. There begins Batman’s path to balance his past, his present and his future so that he can move on with his life.
Wanted: Santa Claus. Dead or Alive (DC Special Series #21).
This is Frank Miller’s first Batman work, amazing right? The story tells how a criminal takes a job as Santa in a Mall to help his friends break in and rob the place when it is closed, but the thieves’ plans are cut short when Santa changes his mind after catching the Christmas spirit. As expected, his colleagues confront him, which causes a fight between them. Batman hears the fight and goes to the place to help Santa. That was a Christmas miracle for this ex-criminal!
JOKER CREATES CHAOS AT CHRISTMAS
Christmas (The long Halloween Chapter 3).
Chapter 3 The long Halloween is the one dedicated to Christmas. In this chapter Batman is busy chasing a serial killer so Joker gets jealous of not getting so much attention from the Bat and decides to steal Christmas! This story in the style of How the Grinch stole Christmas, has that funny Joker style that we love. His crazy plan is to break into houses to steal their gifts until unfortunately the show ends when Joker breaks into Harvey Dent’s house.
Slayride (Detective Comics #826).
Joker is creating chaos in Gotham City one more time! In this story we can see how he runs over the citizens of Gotham at Christmas. A simple but effective act. As usual, he puts on a Santa hat for the occasion and previously captures Robin to be part of the show. This story shows the sadistic Joker we know in a festive setting that ends up in absolute terror due to his actions. If you like this type of ruthless and cruel Joker, it is a must in your next readings.

Batman: Arkham is a video gamesaga that we all know and love! So, due to the 10th anniversary of the Batman Miniature Game we wanted to include these releases in honor of the first miniatures in the game. Miniatures that were also based on the Arkhamverse, however, now we have better materials and design so the end results are spectacular!
Arkham Asylum holds Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals captive. Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-face, Penguin and Scarecrow are some of those who are locked up behind its walls, but their stay in this place will not be peaceful. They will be in charge of unleashing terror within Arkham Asylum.
Killer Croc was in Arkham Asylum when Joker planned to break out. The problem was that he had an electric collar that was activated at the slightest suspicion of an escape attempt. Still, he keeps looking for a way to get revenge on Batman.
Bane was Dr. Penelope Young’s guinea pig. She kept him trapped by a machine that drained all of the Venom from his body, making Bane increasingly enraged during the process.

The Arkham video game series has been the most important adaptation of the Batman universe into video games. This combination of fighting, action and stealth in such a dark and gothic atmosphere is totally in the style of Batman! All the main games have the unique look and feel that we love while connecting us with the stories of the villains that are spectacular.
BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS
Its story shows us a younger Batman in his early years of fighting crime. This time he has a bounty placed on his head by Black Mask who lures eight deadly assassins from Gotham City on Christmas Eve.
Batman goes after him and discovers a series of murders that the villain has carried out. While he has enemies behind him, he continues to investigate until he finds Black Mask, but not everything is what it seems. Black Mask shows his face and the Joker turns out to be a new criminal who will give more than one headache to the dark knight.
BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM
The game begins as expected with Batman stopping the Joker’s plan once again. This time he manages to capture him and takes him to Arkham Asylum but on the way, he thinks something is wrong. Joker doesn’t put up any resistance and seems pretty calm. Something unusual about him. However, Batman does not seem to give it much importance and does his job without knowing that he has just made a fatal mistake.
Predictably, Joker had some crazy ulterior motives. That’s why he behaved like a good boy and allowed himself to be locked up in the Arkham Asylum. This was all part of his plan to get the drug Titan!
The Titan drug, as its name suggests, is a very powerful substance that was going to serve as a “medicine” for those patients who were not very healthy, but instead it ended up transforming the patient into a monster! It was made by Dr. Penelope Young after taking all of Bane’s Venom and mixing it with the Poison Ivy plants. All a success if what you want is to create chaos!
This powerful combination was the Joker’s idea. Using Mr. White’s Nickname, he convinces the doctor to create the drug with the intention of having an army of monsters at her service. A very Joker-style plan! But, that’s not all, Joker uses the drug on himself, so Batman will have a lot of work to do if he wants to stop this eccentric monster from doing what he wants inside the asylum.
Not only Joker will make things difficult for him. Let’s remember that Batman is not a very popular person among the criminals of Gotham City, and who is locked up in Arkham Asylum? Voilà, the same criminals he has locked up. So, Harley Quinn in her plan for helping the Joker, Scarecrow with his fear toxin prepared, Killer Croc with his chance to get revenge on Batman, etc. They’ll be waiting for Batman to give him a warm welcome to Arkham Asylum!
BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY
A year after all this show, resentment is still in the air, so a prison called Arkham City is created to be destroyed along with its prisoners. A questionable but quite effective idea. Bruce Wayne takes a stand against it and holds a press conference about his opposition to the creation of Arkham City, but in the middle of the conference, a group of mercenaries breaks in to arrest Wayne and imprison him in Arkham City. This was the work of Hugo Strange, Arkham City’s chief physician who knew Bruce’s secret identity and wanted him incarcerated in prison.
When he comes to Arkham City, Bruce is interrogated and tortured by Hugo Strange who reveals to him what he knows about his identity and forces him to collaborate with him in order to activate “Protocol 10”, which turns out to be a plan to end all the population of Arkham City. Quite a problem for Batman who is not in his best moment since inside the prison, Bruce meets a very deteriorated Joker. It seems that the Titan drug has some terrible side effects. Joker takes the opportunity and infects Batman with his disease so that he looks for a cure and takes advantage of it. Again a totally Joke idea!
Bruce sets out to find a cure while he runs into other criminals who make his life more difficult. At one point he tries to save Selina from Two-Face’s trial, you know, he flipped the coin, the burned part came out and there was nothing to do. Two-Face was about to put her on trial when Batman arrived to play the hero, though Catwoman didn’t seem to need much help. In the end, Selina is saved, and Two-Face begins his plan to get revenge!
In the end Batman finds the cure and finally meets the Joker twice! Because the first one was actually Clayface posing as him. Joker fails to get the cure and dies, or not, because with this man you can never know how far he can go with his tricks.
BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT
Another year later, with Batman already recovered from the disease. The Scarecrow begins to create terror with another variety of his fear toxins to control his victims through their phobias. This time his objective is a large-scale attack so he is going to release the toxin on Halloween night all over Gotham City, so Batman has very little time to act. In addition, he has allied himself with powerful enemies of Batman and new criminals so that the dark knight faces a difficult situation and does not arrive in time to see how Gotham city falls prey to the terror of the Scarecrow!
One of these new criminals was the Arkham Knight. A mysterious villain who is obsessed with Batman. This turns out to be Jason Todd, the former Robin from Batman. Arkham Knight appeared the night the Joker died. His plan was to go after Batman to convince the villains who had just been defeated that there was a way to defeat the dark knight. He had already finished off the followers of the Joker and wanted to be the one to do the same with Batman, so the dark knight will have a feared adversary who knows him better than anyone.
These titles have been the four most important games in the Arkhamverse saga. In case you didn’t know, Knight Models started the Batman Miniature Game with miniatures from these incredible games. Now, we are on the tenth anniversary of the game and to celebrate it we have been creating great surprises throughout all this time. Stay tuned to our social networks for more new surprises.
Arkham Asylum is the psychiatric hospital for Gotham City and the DC Universe. It was created in 1974 by Len Wein and designed by Iry Novick under the name The Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane.
ARKHAM ASYLUM BACKGROUND
This dark and spooky institution from the old Victorian era is named after the fictician town of Arkham (Massachusetts), a recurring site in the works of the writer H. P. Lovecraft.
It first appeared in Batman #258 as a common hospital, but in the late 1980s it is portrayed as a large Victorian house that has been technologically adapted to be the asylum that receives some of the most dangerous criminals while being secure enough as to be a maximum security prison.
The place is located on the outskirts of Gotham City and is where Batman’s enemies, considered legally mentally ill, are imprisoned, while the rest of enemies or common criminals are locked up in Blackgate Penitentiary.
Villains like the Joker andRiddler were locked up here but they were not treated well. Rumors about the bad practices of the Arkham Asylum spread throughout the city, but very few know the reality that this building hides, as it is considered a place that hides its dark secrets very well. There is a stillness and feeling of complete isolation about the place that can be felt from outside the gate, being a large gothic building that is practically impossible to access if you are a healthy civilian.
The place is surrounded by a brick wall, so the only entrance or exit is the one framed by the old fence that contains the name of the asylum.
ARKHAM ASYLUM: A SERIOUS HOUSE ON SERIOUS EARTH
The creator was Dr. Amadeus Arkham, a renowned social reformer, who founded Arkham Asylum because he did not agree with the conditions of the Gotham penal system. One of his first patients was Martin “Mad Dog” murderer of Amadeus’s wife and daughter. Interestingly, Amadeus had an “accident” and electrocuted “Mad Dog” a year after the death of his wife and daughter.
In 1929 Amadeus ended up losing his fortune and his sanity. As a result of this, Amadeus tried to electrocute his stockbroker but ended up locked up in the asylum he had ran all his life. As a curious fact, Amadeus spent his days locked up carving strange inscriptions on the floor of his cell using his own fingernails. It was later revealed that these symbols were magical spells used by Amadeus to protect the asylum.
ARKHAM ASYLUM: LIVING HELL
After this misfortune, Arkham Asylum continued to function as usual, but as an institution, it has not been well staffed. Although it has had numerous administrators, not all of them can say that they are “balanced”.
Despite the dubious professionalism of its members, Arkham has a large staff. They have guards who are in charge of surveillance 24 hours a day (like Aaron Cash), trained dogs and a large number of security cameras installed inside the institution.
This class of ‘employee’ has been at the asylum since its opening, and many of them, like its creator Amadeus Arkham, have ended up becoming interns at the institution itself. Bad practices continued to develop and many of them allowed sadistic experiments to be carried out on their patients just as their creator began in the early days of the asylum.
ARKHAM REBORN
Over time the Arkham Asylum was demolished and destroyed. Even Batman has fought against villains within the institution leaving great damage in his wake.
It was also closed for 15 years, but reopened its doors to house the wave of criminals that terrorized Gotham City.
In short, this iconic place in the Batman universe has contained all the darkness and madness contained within. It could be said that it is a cursed place because there is no worse curse than the madness and bad practices that have been carried out inside it, but we will not investigate spiritual issues yet.
INTERESTING FACTS
As already mentioned, its name comes from the fictional city included in the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
After the death of his uncle Amadeus Arkham, Jeremiah demolished the asylum and built a new one with better security.
In Batman #326, there was a naming error, calling it Arkham Hospital.
Some Batman villains, such as Hugo Strange, Harley Quinn or the Scarecrow, have worked as medical staff at Arkham Asylum.

Most notable is the new Deacon Blackfire crew. The Deacon Blackfire is the leader of a cult that hides in the sewers of Gotham. This religious leader surrounds himself with people without resources who faithfully follow his ideals. These will be other releases presented for this month.
On the other hand, there are the Blackfire’s Worthy Ones, they are two of the most important miniatures of the crew. These followers will be a key piece in the game.
Blackfire’s Fold are more generic miniatures, but with a great personality. His style and his traits will give advantages never seen in Batman Miniature Game.
The same can be said of Blackfire’s Reinforcements. Another group of followers with a similar style to the rest of Blackfire’s followers but with traits that complement each other.
This would be the full crew that is already available. Additionally, you will also be able to purchase the Blackfire Cult Objective Cards that will be included in the general Cult Objective deck. This new set of cards is called The Cult: Blackfire card pack and will be essential to completing Deacon Blackfire’s crew.
Finally, let’s talk about the new rules for the Clayface miniature. Clayface is gaining prominence so new rules have been added that will add markers to Clayface. So if the new Clayface is acquired, there will be a new way to play with him that is more dynamic and competitive.
The October releases are already available and can be obtained through the Knight Models website and in your nearest FLGS. Test your knowledge of the game and test the mechanics offered by the new miniatures.
Scarecrow is one of Gotham City’s most iconic villains. Beneath the scarecrow’s mask lies a boundless obsession with fear. His fascination with fear makes him an out-of-the-ordinary rival in the Batman villain gallery.
SCARECROW’S BACKGROUND
Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, The Scarecrow makes his first appearance in the World’s Finest comics in 1941.
Jonathan Crane was a psychology professor who lost his mind after being fired after conducting an experiment on the psychology of fear in one of his classes. He performed this experiment to prove his theories since Crane was obsessed with phobias and fear in general.
Due to a harsh childhood in which he was intimidated by his physicality and his passion for studies, Crane develops a kind of obsession with taking revenge through fear. This trauma was never overcome and his withdrawn character mutated into an unscrupulous soul who enjoyed the power that gave him. He applied this to his experiments in a brutal and terrifying way on people in an attempt to learn how to overcome the inferiority that had plagued the early years of his life.
When he was expelled from the university after performing this experiment, Crane took on the identity of the Scarecrow and acquired a specialized fear-inducing gas that makes a person’s deepest phobia become a terrifying reality.
WORKING AT ARKHAM ASYLUM
It was at this time that Jonathan Crane began working at Arkham Asylum as a psychiatrist. He vowed to overcome his fears by studying the psychology and biochemistry of phobias and the nature of fear.
As he specialized in psycho-pharmacology. Crane carried out drug smuggling and other criminal acts to enable his work. The worst of all was to perform cruel experiments with his patients to test his drugs and experiment with their fears beyond all medical limits.
He proclaims himself to be “The Master of Fear“, and is quite obsessed with using an experimental variety of toxins along with psychological tactics to exploit the fears and phobias of his victims and adversaries, especially those of Batman.
SCARECROW’S EXPERIMENTS
His experiments consist of giving his victims a toxin so that they live out their worst phobias and fears. We might think that being a specialist, these practices would be controlled so that the patient would experience a gradual progression, but nothing is further from the truth. His amoral character and his thirst for knowledge fueled by his childhood trauma makes Crane exceed all limits, even enjoying these treatments in his strive for knowledge.
Arkham Asylum may have allowed him to perfect his technique, but it didn’t start here. No, his beginnings with experimentation on patients began with his teaching work.
Crane had already started performing these experiments when he got his psychiatric license. At that time, he began to experiment with schoolboys. Later, thanks to him getting a position as a teacher, the young adults were perfect candidates to carry out his formulas and theories.
Later when he got the job at Arkham Asylum, Scarecrow began to apply his fear experiments to his patients and that’s when his advancement started to grow significantly.
In these experiments the patients were treated in an insane and cruel way. The Scarecrow performed these tortures on them to test his methods and drugs, but he also enjoyed the suffering of his patients. For him it was one more way to test the knowledge he had acquired thanks to his studies.
Despite the recriminations of his professional colleagues. Crane believed in more inhumane medicine because of his character. It would seem there was no doubt in his mind that what he was doing was wrong, hence we could consider him a villain.
After this perfection of his drugs, the Scarecrow began to use his toxins on his victims to make them see their greatest phobias and fears and leave them vulnerable to his attacks. That’s when the Scarecrow could use his fighting method called “Violent Dance” which consists of a kind of Kung Fu and boxing to finish off his enemies.
HIS BIGGEST FEAR: BATMAN
It is to be expected that this villain who specialized in the fears of the people had his own fear that tormented his soul. This fear was intended for the one who was willing to disrupt his plans: Batman.
The Dark Knight is what the Scarecrow fears the most and curiously the one who was closest to becoming a reality. For Batman, the Scarecrow is a danger to society and stopping him was a top priority, for his threat was very real and very imminent.
INTERESTING FACTS
His surname was inspired by Ichabod Crane, the main character of “The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow“.
The first time I used the fear toxin was in Batman #189 (it was published on December 6, 1966). 25 years after the first appearance of the Scarecrow!!

Happy Halloween citizens of Gotham City! We are already in the spooky season so today we bring you 5 (+1) Halloween-themed characters that you can play with in the Batman Miniature Game.
Obviously our most beloved witch had to be in this post. Harley’s costume totally fits her style. The hat reveals her iconic pigtails and the fact that she is flying on her hammer as if it were a broom is the typical funny moment that only she could have come up with.
Harley Bewitched is a free agent so she can go with any BMG crew. Her incredible traits will give you a great advantage in the game so don’t think twice and get her now.
Literally a mixture of bat and human. Man-Bat was created through an experiment where Dr. Kirk Langstrom injected himself with DNA from a bat. He ends up cured of this “disease” thanks to an antidote provided by Batman, but the transformation to Man-Bat upset Langstrom so much that he lost his sanity and had a hard time putting himself back together once he was already “cured” of his transformation.
Man-Bat is a free agent so he is very versatile. He can go with any crew except Batman’s and his skills and abilities add a lot of excitement to a game!
Do you know the Solomon Grundy song? “Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday, christened on Tuesday, married on Wednesday, took ill on Thursday, grew worse on Friday, died on Saturday, buried on Sunday. That was the end of Solomon Grundy.”
Solomon Grundy is also very versatile. He has some amazing traits perfect for your crew. Except if you have the Batman crew. In that case he will have to pray that your opponent does not have a Solomon Grundy in play.
Writing this article without adding Scarecrow could be considered a crime. One of Batman’s most disturbing and heartless enemies. He calls himself the “Master of Fear” and has gained this name by experimenting on his victims’ phobias until they lose their sanity.
Scarecrow is another free agent that can join all crews except Batman’s. The Dark Knight will not find many allies in this post. If you like a more tricky and strategic type of game. The Scarecrow is your ideal miniature to include in your crew to spread terror in Gotham City.
Not everyone is an enemy of Batsy. The Batman Vampire is set in other worlds. On this occasion they wanted to introduce him to vampire mythology and the result was spectacular. Batman Vampire is dark and menacing like the original Batman, but in a more spooky style.

Special mention to our shape-shifting villain. The way Clayface “disguises” himself from other people can fit right in with the tradition of dressing up on Halloween. Clayface’s criminal life was imitating a villain from a horror movie which has developed over time.

Deacon Blackfire is the leader of a cult that operates from the sewers and wants to gain control of Gotham City.
Deacon’s followers are homeless people duped by his alluring talk of a new, better life. This speech is full of beliefs and an end goal so desired that they will do whatever it takes to achieve it.
The reality is that Blackfire has used his psychology to manipulate these poor people. His modus operandi is always the same. He uses his followers to carry out his plans and uses his psychology and drugs to get people to side with him.
When they manage to kidnap Batman, the end is near. It is only a matter of time before Gotham City ends under the will of this new sect that wants to impose its desire on everyone.
THE CULT
The story begins with the appearance of brutally murdered criminals on the streets of Gotham city. These deaths baffle the GCPD and send Batman into action to find out who is dispensing justice with such force. After investigating these crimes, Batman realizes that it is the work of Deacon Joseph Blackfire. He is a self-proclaimed divine messenger who intends to eradicate crime from the city no matter how he achieves it.
THE BATMAN’S FALL
Batman will not get rid of this leader easily as he will be kidnapped and held by Deacon Blackfire. This takes him to the sewers where his followers will treat him as he wishes.
Blackfire takes advantage of this situation to destroy Bruce Wayne’s morale. The peculiarity that the Deacon has is that he is a villain who attacks people’s beliefs. His ideals are based on the fact that tough times call for tough actions, which is why he acts so brutally.
With his dismissive actions and using inhumane methods like giving him drugs and keeping him from eating, Deacon Blackfire ends up destroying Bruce psychologically. It is one of the first times that he cannot cope with the situation and we see and feel the fear Batman is experiencing. He is broken, lost, vulnerable and exhausted. Drugs and lack of food leave him in a desperate state.
His spirit has broken and his sleep-deprived and dehydrated body begins to fail, so he begins to believe the Deacon’s words. It is at that moment Batman is rescued and he recognizes reality so he leaves the destructive loop to which the Deacon had led him.
IMPORTANCE OF THE CULT
This story marked a milestone thanks to its mature and credible adult perspective.
The cult deals with various themes. Deacon Blackfire, at the head of a sect of homeless people, he manages to bend Batman’s will, destroy his invincibility and gain absolute control of Gotham.
The Cult has been rated as the sixth best work (of 25) on Batman for the change it gives to the comics of the Batman universe and for how they show us weaknesses that we did not think possible in Bruce Wayne, among other things.
The Bat-family is made up of a group of superheroes who act in Gotham City. They all have a strong bond with Batman and help each other achieve their goals. They are like a group of lost souls who finally become a family of kindred spirits. Even for Bruce Wayne himself, who is the nexus of the group, the members of the Bat-family are his allies and close friends.
As their name suggests, they are like a family, but Bat-family means so much more. After all, they are different people who have their own past and traumas to deal with. However, the fact of choosing the rest as their family and collaborating with them for a better future makes them have that special relationship that only the term Bat-family can include.
As we have already said, the members of the Bat-family are very diverse and are usually quite independent from the rest.
DICK GRAYSON
Dick Grayson was the first Robin that Batman had and leader of the Teen Titans. He later decided to become Nightwing to have his own independence away from Batman, but even with his identity change he continued to lead the Teen Titans.
He has a tragic past, Dick was the youngest of a family of acrobats known as the “Flying Graysons”, One day he saw how a mob boss named Tony Zucco killed his parents to extort money from the circus in which they worked. After seeing his deaths, Bruce Wayne took him in as his legal ward and eventually as his partner, Robin.
Bruce and Dick got along very well and had very good years together, but as Dick grew older he found a new identity further away from that of Batman, that’s when he became Nightwing. Despite his new identity, Dick remained in contact with Batman and even temporarily replaced him. Over the years, Dick’s new identity, Nightwing, has earned the respect of many people and has been considered the best assistant of all time, making him an essential member of the Bat-family.
BARBARA GORDON
Barbara is Commissioner Gordon’s daughter and seemingly nothing out of the ordinary for any citizen of Gotham, but what the people don’t know is that Barbara is a librarian by day and Batgirl by night. She disguised herself as Batman for a costume party and intervened in Bruce Wayne’s attempted kidnapping, causing him to take notice of her and eventually helping her to start her career against crime.
At that point, she began cooperating with Batman and Robin, making her a member of the Bat-family.
JASON TODD
Jason Todd was the second Robin, replacing Dick Grayson. Jason had a terrible childhood so when Bruce found him stealing the wheels from his Batmobile he was surprised by his ability and ended up adopting him and turning him into Robin. At that moment Jason began to reconcile his secret life with high school. Everything was going well until Jason learned a family secret. Who he thought was his mother was not actually his birth mother so he left Gotham City to go looking for her in at story with a fatal outcome…
Batman always blamed himself for the death of Jason Todd and to him he was always a much-loved member of the family but, years later, Jason returned under the name of Red Hood.
TIM DRAKE
Tim Drake became the third Robin after Jason Todd’s unfortunate end. Since he was young Drake had great abilities. It was thanks to this that he soon discovered the identities of Batman and Robin. From that moment he began to be interested in his exploits. He was like that for a while until Jason Todd died and Batman spiraled into darkness due to the guilt he felt. It was at that moment that he decided to start training to be the next Robin and thus become another prominent member of the Bat-family.

Clayface is one of Gotham City’s most dangerous inhabitants, and although this name has been used by several different characters, today we will talk about Basil Karlo, the original Clayface.
Our Clayface from Batman Miniature Game (the Basil Karlo version) will get new rules. The most notable difference is that now the Clayface miniature will get custom markers that will be very useful when performing actions on him. He will also possess incredible new traits related to the versatility that his body gives him.
Remember that Clayface has a clay body and the ability to change shape, so playing with him will be very fun and dynamic!
CLAYFACE’S BACKGROUND
Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, he made his first appearance in Detective Comics #40 (June 1940) as Basil Karlo, a second-rate actor who began a life of crime using the identity of a villain he had played in a horror movie.
Basil Karlo was an actor who went crazy when he found out that a new version of a horror movie in which he had acted, Dread Castle, was going to be filmed.
For this reason he decided to adopt the identity of Clayface, the villain of that film, and began to kill the actors of the new version in the order and manner in which they die in the film. His last victim would be the actor who plays Clayface’s killer, but Batman and Robin arrive in time to stop his plans and Basil Karlo is arrested.
Against all odds he escapes imprisonment, because the prison ambulance that was transporting him falls off a cliff. He once again dons the Clayface mask and takes aim at Bruce Wayne’s fiancée, Julie Madison, but the Dynamic Duo once again puts a stop to his plans.
This would not be Basil Karlo’s last appearance in the Batman comics. The next thing we know about Karlo is when he is in the hospital and he proposes an alliance between all the Clayfaces to defeat Batman. He obviously ends up being defeated but thanks to this he gets the skills of Preston Payne and Sondra Fuller.
He later captures Poison Ivy but she manages to defeat him by knocking him to the ground. This seemed the end of Clayface but he manages to survive and ends up joining the Injustice League to increase his powers and continue doing evil.
INTERESTING FACTS
The name, Basil Karlo, is inspired by the name of actor Boris Karloff, known for playing Frankenstein’s monster and the Mummy in Universal films. Both Basil Karlo and Boris Karloff have starred in a film called The Terror.
Clayface has been married to Poison Ivy.
He has been part of a team of superheroes alongside Orphan, Robin (Tim Drake) and Spoiler, led by Batman and Batwoman.

Members of The Court of Owls are rich and powerful families with economic and political ties throughout Gotham City. Though they have chosen to hide their identities with owl masks on their faces, some members seem to have mutated into a macabre form of human and owl hybrids.
THE COURT OF OWLS STORY
Created by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, The Court of Owls made their first appearance in Batman Nº1 New 52.
They’re like the Illuminati of Gotham City. This organization focuses on ruling the city from the shadows, and not only in economical and political matters because they also control mafia bosses.
It is said that they watch all the time and are present even in nursery rhymes. Although their cruel and evil methods define very well the dark morality of the Court. They are violent and use methods such as murder to enforce their power.
To carry out these crimes they have elite assassins called the Talons, trained to kill anyone who stands in the way of their goals.
At one point they turn their attention to billionaire Bruce Wayne as he announces his plans to rebuild and remodel Gotham City in the future.
As these acts interfere with his plans, they send their best Talon named Willian Cobb to finish him off. Cobb attempts to assassinate him, but fails. Seeing the threat they pose to him and to Gotham City, Batman begins to investigate the Court of Owls, and he discovers something that terrifies him. Apparently they had been closer to him than he thought at first as he discovers that the Court has various secret headquarters throughout the hidden rooms in each building created by Alan Wayne.
Bruce investigated his ancestor further for more clues and discovered that Alan Wayne was killed by the Owls. Knowing this he became obsessed with them, leading him to think that they had also killed his parents, but he dismisses the idea due to lack of evidence.
This does not prevent the Court of Owls from keeping him among their targets though, as they try to kill him several more times.
While Batman investigates them, Cobb manages to capture him and keeps him prisoner in an underground labyrinth that they use to lock up all of their victims. Inside, Batman loses his strength. He goes a week without eating so he ends up at the limit of his strength. It is at that point that Talon asks to end his life. Knowing the threat posed by the Court, they agree, so they order him to brutally put him to death. With this idea in mind, he approaches Batman from behind and taking advantage of his weakness, stabs him knowing that he has everything in his favor to win that battle.
What he didn’t know about Talon was that his victory wasn’t so easy. Batman gathers his forces after remembering his ancestors and a great rage emerges from him that helps him defeat the Talon. After this turn of events, the Court flees, listening as Batman threatens to hunt them all down.
When Batman escaped, the Court of Owls decided that the Bat-family should be eliminated. The Talon that fought with Batman was discarded for not having fulfilled his mission. Instead, the Court decides that it is time to dispose of the army of similar warriors waiting to be revived.
After Batman returns to Wayne Manor, The Court is enraged so they unleash its full power to take back Gotham City and kill Batman and his allies.
THE NIGHT OF THE OWLS
This attempt to control the city was dubbed the Night of the Owls, which begins when the Court sends several resurrected Talons to take down the most prominent citizens of Gotham City. They also send a Talon to attack Wayne Manor. Batman prepares to stop him in a spectacular fight where he uses his battle armor, while Alfred warns the Bat-family to save all the citizens they can.
Batman is still weak after his imprisonment, so he knows that it will be very difficult for him to win that fight, but he knows that he still has a chance because at all times he had information that could give him victory.
After spending so much time with them, he has discovered the weak point of the Talons: The cold, and he is going to use it in his favor. In this way, he manages to defeat the Talon and go out to the city to end the Court and thus stop all this madness.
Some time after this horrible night, Batman manages to find the true hiding place of The Court of Owls, but when he arrives he finds several of their members poisoned and others on the run. In the end, the entire Court of Owls is defeated and their members are discovered by Batman, who swears to remain vigilant in case they return to Gotham City.
WHO IS THE LEADER OF THE COURT OF OWLS?
The leader of the court of owls is a mysterious man wearing a black hoodie around his head. Although the identity of him is unknown, we can distinguish him from the rest by his mask. The leader’s mask is the only one that is coloured. The rest of the group has a white mask.
The leader was absent for a long time because he had left Gotham City, but seeing the changes he was bringing to the city, he decided to return to lead the Court of Owls again.
INTERESTING FACTS
Unlike many Batman villains the members of The Court of Owls are not mentally unstable.
Talons are often orphans or street children who are purchased by The Court for use for their purposes. They usually have flexibility, accelerated regeneration, intelligence, speed and strength. Some of these skills are given because they are child acrobats trained for fairs and circuses.
